Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) defeated Manchester City 4–2 in the UEFA Champions League on October 14, 2026, at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester.

PSG dominated early, scoring three goals in the first half and securing an important victory despite Manchester City's efforts to fight back.

Both teams entered the match hoping to earn three points and improve their positions in the Champions League standings.

PSG aimed to continue its strong start to the competition, while Manchester City hoped to take advantage of playing in front of its home fans.

The match attracted 60,021 spectators, creating an electric atmosphere for one of the biggest matches of the tournament's league stage.

PSG started the match strongly, taking the lead in the 13th minute when Désiré Doué scored with a low shot from the edge of the penalty area.

Just two minutes later, Ousmane Dembélé doubled PSG’s lead to 2-0 with a header after combining with Doué.

Manchester City struggled to defend against PSG's fast-paced attacks.

In the 32nd minute, Vitinha scored the team's third goal after receiving a backheel pass from Warren Zaire-Emery.

The goal gave PSG 3-0 lead heading into halftime.

Despite PSG’s dominant lead, Manchester City had also created several opportunities during the first half.

However, PSG goalkeeper Matvey Safonov made crucial saves to prevent the home team from scoring.

City's inability to convert these opportunities into goals exacerbated their predicament.

Manchester City returned to the field with renewed energy in the second half.

In the 53rd minute, Erling Haaland scored City's first goal with a header, reducing the score to 3-1 and igniting hope of a comeback among the home crowd.

His goal also marked his 37th European goal for Manchester City, setting a new club record.

PSG quickly retaliated to City's goal.

In the 62nd minute, Maghnes Akliouche scored the team's fourth goal, restoring PSG's three-goal advantage and bringing the score to 4-1.

Despite falling further behind, Manchester City refused to surrender.

The home team created several scoring opportunities, with Enzo Fernández and Haaland both hitting the goal post.

In the 75th minute, Haaland scored his second goal of the match, reducing PSG’s lead to 4-2.

Manchester City continued to press PSG's defence in the final minutes.

However, PSG goalkeeper Matvey Safonov made a crucial save in the 83rd minute, denying Haaland his hat-trick.

PSG also had an opprotunity to extend its lead when Ferran Torres took a late penalty, but Manchester City goalkeeper Donnarumma saved the shot.

The match concluded with a 4–2 victory for PSG, ending Manchester City's seven-match unbeaten streak.

The result also marked PSG's second consecutive victory in the Champions League this season, following its opening win against Slovan Bratislava.

The loss was particularly disheartening for Manchester City, especially after its stronger performance in the second half.

Despite Haaland’s brace, City's early defensive struggles made it difficult to recover from PSG’s three-goal lead.

For PSG, the victory added another three points and strengthened its position in the league stage.

With six points from its opening two matches, they continued their strong start as it worked toward qualifying for the knockout rounds.

Ultimately, PSG's strong first half performance made the difference.

Despite Manchester City’s valiant effort until the final whistle, PSG maintained its lead and left Manchester with a memorable Champions League victory.
