On December 7th, Lando Norris claimed his first trophy in the 2025 Drivers’ Championship. The crowd erupted as Lando ended Max’s streak, stopping him from winning a fifth consecutive Drivers’ Championship. Ending Verstappen’s streak signifies a transformation in the current F1 era, narrowing the gap between rival teams, and making it more difficult for the audiences to predict who the champion will be. The final race of the 2025 grand prix was held in Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi has served the F1 finale 14 times. The location of F1 races are chosen through a commercial agreement based on the location's weather, audience, facilities, and to meet the requirement of F1’s financial demands. Abu Dhabi and F1 currently have a contract until 2030, for Abu Dhabi to position as the last race on the calendar. Winning the F1 Driver Championship is not through a single race, it is based on who scored the most points for the whole season. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and his fellow teammate Oscar Piastri took first and second place in the F1 Driver Championship. The season concluded with Lando defeating Max Verstappen by a mere two points. Two-point championship finishes are extremely rare, as they require almost perfect parity over an entire season. In each race, the driver earns points, 25 being the max and down to 1. Norris secured the championship scoring 423 points; winning seven Formula 1 races. Max won eight Formula 1 races scoring 421 points. Lando’s win shed light on the 2025 McLaren Artura Spider Supercar, which has been widely praised by audiences. Followed by McLaren’s car, the team achieved great success in 2025, becoming the most winningliest team in the season, with Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri each winning seven Grand Prix races. Typically, there are 24 Grands Prix races. In 2023, Max won 19 races; he holds the all-time record for the most wins in a single F1 season. Lando Norris is a British Driver, who currently races for McLaren, with his contract being at least until the end of 2027. Lando began driving at the age of 8, with his dad introducing him to go-karting. He and his brother, Oliver, started driving together, often considered rivals. But soon, Oliver left track racing, switching into helping his dad with business. In 2014, Lando officially joined car racing by competing in the Ginetta Junior Championship with HHC Motorsport. Lando finished third in the Championship claiming the Rookie Cup. After, Lando joined Carlin Motorsport, which is now known as the British F4 Championship. By the end of 2017, Lando made his Formula 2 debut with Campos Racing. Lando was announced as an official member of the McLaren Formula 1 team in 2019 at the Australian Grand Prix, climbing through the ranks of other junior drivers. Like Lando Norris who looked up to Valentino Rossi, an Italian motorcycle racing legend, since day 1. Young drivers now look up to Lando Norris, the driving legend. From being the youngest Formula 1 driver on the formula grid to winning the Drivers’ Championship, Lando has completed a life-long journey, securing his title as the F1 champion for this season.
