The Pokémon Company announced on the 14th that it has released a special video of its new Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive "Pokémon Pokopia" through Pokémon's official YouTube channel.

This is a new work jointly planned and developed by The Pokémon Company, GAME FREAK Inc, KOEI TECMO GAMES CO, and LTD.  

The released video begins with the scene where Ditto,  transformed into a human figure, encounters Dr. Tangrowth, a unique looking figure in a dilapidated village. 

The video has sparked fans' interest by previewing the sight of the village, the unique Pokémon, and the world view of the game as a whole that the player will experience.

In Pokémon Pokopia, players create habitats for Pokémon, meet new Pokémon to learn their skills, and craft various tools and furniture using materials such as wood and stones that can be obtained from the surroundings. 

Players can also enjoy the daily joy of living with Pokémon, such as increasing vegetation and decorating the environment. 

Beyond activities to go out and play with Pokémon, the process of gradually improving the devastated village, such as fulfilling their requests and building houses in cooperation is also a major element of the game. 

The game is not just an exploration, it consists of life-style contents with Pokémon to offer a fresh perspective. 

Notably, Pokémon with different appearances from the previous series gathered attention. 

With the introduction of several Pokémons with new designs such as Dr. Tangrowth, Pikachu with pale color, Snorlax with mossy color, and Smeargle in Painter concept, fans' expectations for various Pokémon to be released in the future are growing. 

In addition, free customization functions such as hairstyle and costume changes, visits by other players to villages, and taking commemorative photos with Pokémon were also introduced, signaling that it is possible to play a peaceful and happy life.

The download version of "Pokémon Pokopia" has been available for pre-purchase through the Nintendo e-shop since November 12th, and reservations for the package version of the key card will begin on January 15, 2026. 

As a special incentive, if players purchase a download or package version by January 31, 2027, players can receive a Ditto Rug, an in-game decorative item. 

The public video is raising the interest of not only Pokémon fans but gamers who like the life simulation genre, raising expectations for the release of additional information in the future.

It will be Nintendo's first game to be released in the form of a Game-Key Card. 

At the same time, Nintendo released a video that introduced how to use the game key card for the Switch 2, displaying a sample card and game box design of the Pokémon Pokopia. 

Unlike traditional physical game cards, the game key card comes in a new form that only includes download keys without data, and has previously been used in select third-party games. 

However, with the release of Pokémon Pokopia in this format, Nintendo is moving to actively introduce game key cards to the first party title as well.
