New AI model raises global concerns over cybersecurity risks

On April 25, 2026, artificial intelligence company Anthropic announced that it would not publicly release a new AI model called “Mythos” due to growing concerns about cybersecurity risks and the model’s ability to discover hidden software vulnerabilities.

According to reports, the AI can identify hidden security flaws in software much faster than human experts.

These problems, known as “zero-day vulnerabilities,” are especially dangerous because they are unknown to developers and can be exploited in attacks before they are patched.

Experts warn that an AI system that can find these weaknesses rapidly could change the way cyberattacks happen.

The model is also capable of generating code that could be used to exploit these vulnerabilities.

This means the AI not only identifies problems but can also demonstrate how they might be used in real-world attacks.

As a result, many researchers believe the technology could increase the speed and scale of cyber threats if it is misused.

Anthropic has chosen not to release the model publicly, stating that the risks are too high and that strict controls are needed before wider use.

Instead, access to the system is restricted to internal testing and a small number of trusted partners.

This decision reflects growing concerns about how powerful AI systems should be governed.

The development of Mythos comes at a time when global competition in the AI sector is intensifying.

Companies such as OpenAI and Google are also developing advanced AI models.

As these systems become more sophisticated, experts emphasize that safety measures must keep pace with the technology.

Governments are also closely monitoring these developments.

Some officials have started discussions about new regulations for advanced AI systems, particularly those that could affect national security.

Cybersecurity is already a major concern for many countries, and tools that can quickly identify system weaknesses may increase both defense and attack capabilities.

However, not all reactions have been negative.
