Korea's U-16 women's national football team finishes first preliminary rounds of Asian Cup with a remarkable record

On April 26, Korea’s U-16 women’s national football team successfully finished their first preliminary rounds in the Asian Cup with two wins without a defeat (Local time). 

Korea belonged to Group E, which also had Hong Kong, Iraq (withdrawal), and Tajikistan.

In their first qualifying matches, they won 2 games with a total 28 goal difference. 

In the first round of the preliminary rounds, the Korean team  defeated Tajikistan with a score of 16-0.

This remarkable record was made  possible because of the players' effort in the games. 

With a perfect 16-0 start against Tajikistan , the U-16 women's national football team went on to another huge victory over Hong Kong on April 30th (Korean time). 

They defeated Hong Kong by a score of 12-0. 

Korea's U16 women's national football team scored five goals in the first half and added seven goals in the second half. 

The team was able to accomplish such a task due to both their remarkable playing quality and tactical astuteness. 

Korea's U16 women's national team advanced to the final qualifier by winning the two matches in the first preliminary rounds.

They finished by ranking first in Group E.

The team will compete in the final round of the Asian Cup in the final qualifying round scheduled from September 16 to September 24. 

The top two teams from each group qualify for the final preliminary round. 

Coach Eun Jung Kim, who led Korea's U-16 women's national football team to this remarkable record, was appointed head coach of the U-17 women's national team on November 9, 2022.

At that time, she stated that the women's U-17 national team had the  remarkable history of winning a FIFA tournament for the first time in Korean football history. .

She also stated in an interview that her team's goal is to advance to the FIFA U-17 World Cup by passing the 2024 U-17 Asian Cup.

Coach Kim stated that she wanted to make Korea's U-16 women's national football team competitive on the international stage.

Coach Kim stated that her team would become a competitive team by  developing  certain qualities such as  judgment, quick connection, and speedy play. 

She stated that she would try her best to support Korea's U-16 women's national football players as she knew that the players within the squad were the future of Korean women's football. 

Korea hopes the U16 women's national football team can succeed in the upcoming Women's Asian Cup in 2024 with Coach Eun-Jung Kim.
